Iris Mar is an independent artist from Norway currently based in Berlin, who's written and performed songs for over a decade, now ready with her first solo record.
The story
At the beginning of 2023, I went to Kaspar Kaae's studio in Copenhagen to start recording my debut album, SALT. The songs were written the year before, and the project had taken its shape from philosophical conversations with friends and a craving for connection after the pandemic years. Salt works as an image of the interconnectedness of all things - a corrosive and cleansing essence that enhances, binds and seeps through us all.
I had two studio sessions in Copenhagen, and in the autumn I continued recording on my own in Berlin. In January 2024 I was lucky enough to get Brian Speaker in to mix and help me finish the album. I recorded the remaining songs with great people at the Famous Gold Watch in February. It is currently in the last stage of mastering, which is in the hands of David Koulakiotis.
SALT will be released digitally on all major streaming platforms, BandCamp and on vinyl in spring 2025.
